Hi, I’m Summer! I’m a Gallery Artist, Illustrator & Designer.

Through art, I seek to build connections within my city [ST PETE//FLA] and beyond – to people, cultures, lifestyles and vibes. I revel in gentle juxtaposition of real and unreal, silly and serious, beautiful and strange. Ideas come quickly, mingling concepts with bold, uplifting color and expression to offer a slightly new viewpoint that draws upon the comfort of the original idea, and generally seeks to provoke a smile.

For 2D illustration I use a digital canvas in the way an oil painter would; slowly and carefully layering and blending, building from sketch, to color block, to fully rendered pieces. I do much of this process in public. Chatting with locals and visitors, art appreciators and artists themselves is a wildly fun and truly meaningful part of my art. This is a confidence boost // social networking // learning opportunity sandwich that fuels me further to keep creating.

To create the “Mini Marks” series and other 3D illustration projects, I utilize design skills and training to create digital prototypes of wood layers from hand-drawn sketches of landmarks and locations around my area. Each piece is a mini diorama composed of 5 layers of 3mm basswood all hand-painted and assembled by myself in my Historic Kenwood Studio.
